Comanche REA to Close Thursday Membership Meeting at Lake

Comanche REA announces a Friday meeting at Lake with Carlton Smith appearing on an EA program. The event includes lunch, prizes, a morning program by Honorable Carl J. Smith and Invoca- tion by Rev J Isham. Mayor Waldrop and former State Rep Brown will speak. Dinner and picnic lunch follow with free ice water tea and pickles. Homer Wilson Jr Marries Amy Hardin in North Jas Church

Homer Wilson Jr. and Miss Amy Hardin were married July 26 at the North Jas Baptist Church. Rev. A C Craig performed the double ring ceremony in the presence of family and friends, including the groom’s sister and brother in law Jyde R Honea. The groom is the son of Mr and Mrs Homer Wilson of the Fairview community.

County Service Officer Resigns for Teaching Post

Charles P. Marshall, longtime County Service Officer and World War II veteran, resigns to accept a teaching position with Olney Public Schools. A graduate of Howard Payne College, Marshall previously taught at Comanche Grammar School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Troy Marshall of Comanche.

Gail Dudley Heads County Livestock Assn

The ninth annual Comanche County Livestock Association meeting at Lake Eanes Park on August 8 elected Gail Dudley of Comanche as president. A. H. Caraway and Earl Seay were named first and second vice presidents, the secretary and treasurer roles merged, Jim Newburg of Comanche elected secretary-treasurer, and several directors were chosen.

Camp to Remain as Band Director at Comanche

Herb M. Camp will continue as director of the Comanche High School Band for the next term after officials and the Chamber of Commerce urged him to stay. He was offered a similar position in Coleman with a high salary and was chosen from 19 directors considered. Camp has a noted record as a leading Texas band director.

After two wins over Comanche High School by the VFW softball team the playoff race stays tight as they close in on the best three of five for the City Softball League title. A Thursday game set for Aug 14 and possible Friday and Monday matches could decide the championship. The squad also notes a strong showing in the State VFW tournament at San Antonio where Kingsville edged them 3 to 4.

Klingman resigns Comanche post for Honey Grove pastorate

Dr. C. C. Klingman, longtime Central Christian Church pastor in Comanche for about 25 years, will resign to lead the Christian Church in Honey Grove Fannin County. He begins September 1 and plans to move with wife Mrs. Klingman, a Comanche High School teacher, after the school term ends.

Vineyard to Open Tax and Accounting Office in Smith Building

H. M. Shorty Vineyard announces plans to open a tax and accounting office upstairs in the George Smith Building. He cites four years in the County Tax Assessor-Collector’s office, five with the U S Internal Revenue Department, and five with the State National Bank. Rodeo Parades Draw Big Crowds in Comanche Show

Huge crowds packed streets for the 1947 Comanche Rodeo parade and performances. Kilpatrick's won top parade prize with Comanche Garden Club second, Cactus Inn third, and Trujillo Boot Shop fourth. The event, led by the Comanche Roping Club under Howard Brown, drew praise from visitors and featured full houses and thrilling rodeo acts. Belve Bean and Melvin Gore led the organizing efforts as the club praised wide community support. A full list of winners and awards was forthcoming from Mr. Brown.
