First Bale of 1955 Cotton Shown by Comanche Farmer
Jesse Sliger of Comanche brought in the first 1955 bale of cotton Friday August 12. Ginned by Eight Gin the bale sold for 35 cents a pound with a $25 premium from the Chamber of Commerce. Sliger notes this may be the earliest first bale date in years and plans further picking. The bale came from his farm four miles east of Comanche where the Western Prolific cotton was grown.
