Albert Miller joins the venture with a 35-sitter facility east of town boasting soil uranium up to .035. Spinoff spreads reach Sipe Springs as J P Whiteside hawks radioactive earth for testing.

The Comanche district announces 68 full time employees and a 281,520 budget for 1955-56. 45 teachers, 15 bus drivers and custodians, plus 6 lunchroom workers, serve about 1,000 students. Annexations add Van Dyke and Hasse districts. first faculty meeting set for Sept 3.
The Mass Chest X Ray Survey for Comanche County, run by the State Health Department, opens in De Leon on Wednesday August 24 and continues through Friday before moving to Comanche for exams starting Friday noon August 26. It runs 9 am to 6 pm on several days at the former Pen Evridge Building and aims for 100 percent adult participation. The effort screens for tuberculosis and other thoracic conditions, with confidentiality and no undressing required, sponsored by the Comanche Lions Club and led by local organizers.

The Comanche County Farm Bureau will hold its annual convention Tuesday night August 30 at 7 30 at Lake Eanes Park Comanche. Members are asked to bring a picnic lunch drinks and ice will be furnished. Highlights include election of new directors discussion of raising dues and a talk by a guest speaker. County officers and directors are listed with names and routes.
Seventh and eighth grade pupils will register at Comenine Grammar School on September 2 at 9:00 AM. Students will learn their band placement before registration, with Senior Band assigned to a fixed classroom for the year. No Seventh Grade pupil may join the Senior Band.
A gospel meeting begins Friday August 6 at the Comanche Church of Christ and runs through September. Minister Cecil B. Deathitt of Warwood preaches with Garland John son as reader. Services are at 9 a m and 8 p m daily with cordial invitation from Minister M F Marchester of the Comanche Church of Christ.
