Home Beautiful Campaign Ends September 1
The Home Beautiful contest run by the Lions Club Chamber of Commerce PTA and the Study Club ends September 1 with final inspection in late August. Prizes totalling 175 dollars are offered for best kept premises March 15 to September 1 and include 25, 20 and 15 dollar prizes. Additional 25 dollar awards go to the greatest improvement in grass shrubs painting or dwelling upkeep in each of three districts. A 15 dollar prize goes to renters with the best looking premises regardless of dwelling improvements.

At a Saturday board meeting the County fair dates were moved to September 15 16 17 in Comanche to allow more prep time. New Methodist Circuit Parsonage Torn Down for New Cottage
Dozens from the Comanche circuit kicked off a tear down of the 40 year old parsonage on East South Main Street led by Dan McCarthy. Volunteers expect a five room modern cottage with porch and bath on the old grounds within two weeks. The project honors Rev. Ray and his family with meals and social gatherings accompanying the work.

Three Youths Charged In Van Dyke Chicken Theft
In Van Dyke a coordinated effort led to the arrest of Walter King Donald Brooks and Woodrow Starks on theft charges for stealing chickens. A man named Torm Sutton was charged with selling intoxicating liquor tied to the case. Some birds were found smothered in a sack near De Leon Highway. others were recovered in De Leon.
