The State Highway Department orders asphalt paving on Highway 67 through Comanche County from Cisco to the Erath County line with work expected to start after Septem ber 8 and finish within about thirty days. Potential paving of Highway 10 from Fort Worth to Brownwood is under study with surveys pending.

Two arrested in Haskell murder case confession by killer
Comanche officers arrested Walter, 19, and Robbin Davis, a farm laborer, in the October Haskell night watchman murder. King, 26, who confessed last Thursday and implicated Davis, led to the arrests after a prior chicken theft arrest. Sheriff J. T. Gilbreath, County Attorney Tom Reese, Deputy Sheriff Denny Connor, and City Marshal W. A. Pate credited for six months of case work. King’s confession followed his Saturday arrest with two others. King and Davis allegedly planned to rob a store in Haskell and then King killed the night watchman.

Burglars Busy Hit Local Grocery Store
Burglars entered Slider and Lacys building Wednesday night by breaking a pane in the northwest corner. A dollar and fifty five cents disappeared from the cash drawer while owners could not confirm stolen merchandise. A small amount of money remained untouched in the general office.
