De Leon and Desdemona School District Consolidation

Man Gunned Down at De Leon Melon Festival
Two people were shot in De Leon near the Peach and Melon Festival late Saturday. Ed Gomez was shot in the head on Juarez Street and Rosendo Perez was wounded three times in the abdomen at the festival. Jessie Gomez Jr was arrested nearby and jailed on assault with intent to murder charges with a 5600 bond. Ed Gomez survived and was treated at a Galveston hospital. Perez was in fair condition.
