A lighting program includes an amateur contest in three age divisions with prizes of 15, 5, and 3 dollars. Registration runs 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Jimmy Blanton and music will entertain, with KRBC-TV Abilene air coverage.
Mrs. Joe Harper and Mrs. Robert Eaton of Comanche depart Saturday for Honolulu as delegates to the Delta Kappa Gamma Southwest Regional Convention. They travel with two Stephenville teachers from Love Field, Dallas, for the convention and Hawaiian vacation.

The Gas Budd well about 1% miles southwest of Energy, Comanche County, was brought in as a heavy gasser Sunday. It lies 600 feet from the Emil Allen gas well, a long-time heavy producer. Drilling reached Marble Falls formation at 2711 feet, by Trish Drilling Company Eastland and Terrell Oil Company Fort Worth. Lone Star Gas completed a pipeline to both producers on the Pettit ranch and to the Allen property, with a connection to the new Rudd well.
Voters in the Comanche Independent School District approve a 150000 bond 237 to 67. Major repairs begin at Comanche High School with K H Sparks Construction in charge. Planned work includes wall reconstruction, new vocational building, modernized heating, science labs, new high school furniture, and general repairs.

The Comanche First Baptist Church revival runs Sunday August 11 through Sunday August 18 with sermons by Dr. Philip McGahey of College Hills Baptist Church and Jerry Fodehase leading singing. Services are at 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Rev Henry M. Chambers invites all to attend.
The De Leon festival begins Thursday at 5 20 PM with a parade and runs through Saturday at the festival grounds. Farm exhibits feature peaches and melons, with community and commercial booths and the queen coronation ceremony set for Thursday.
A quartet will perform at Gartman View Church on Friday night August 9 at 8 o clock. The event invites the community to enjoy a musical evening at the church.
The Comanche County Swine Breeders Association holds its monthly meeting in the County Courtroom in Comanche at 8 PM Monday August 12. Clyde Wall of De Leon Route 1 is president. Percy Parsons Moorman's Feed Co. district sales manager will present the program.
The REA Cooperative has received notice of an $800,000 loan approval to fund expansion over the next two years. A further $220,000 will cover capacity increases over five years. Funds are drawn only as construction starts with no interest charged until advances. Plans by an outside engineer and REA engineers were reviewed by the cooperative board.
Gustine Tigers appoints new head coach Rice and names Robert D Lee son of Mr and Mrs Joe B Lee from Cmanche as the new Gustine assistant coach. East Texas State Teachers College graduate joins staff as principal candidate.
A Hospital Association plans a meeting Monday and urges everyone within a 10 mile radius of Gustine to attend. The call emphasizes community involvement and awareness of local healthcare matters.
Travis Henry 30 a graduate of Abilene Christian College will lead Comanche High School basketball and assist football duties. He previously headed Lakeview Chiefs and is a 1951 ACC graduate with a master’s from Sul Ross. The Henrys, parents of two, are house hunting in town.
The Comanche Jaycees Little League All-Star Tournament began Wednesday night with Ballow Insurance of Stephenville defeating Goldthwaite to stay undefeated. Gustine meets Cross Plains at 6 30 pm and Comanche All-Stars play Hamilton All-Stars at 8 pm Thursday. Hico with bye opens Friday vs Ballow, winners meet in the nightcap. finals Saturday night.
