Enlarged Durham plant to manufacture sweet feed
The Durham Pecan and Peanut Plant of Comanche is remodeling to install equipment for sweet feed production. A new 6,000 square foot warehouse will expand storage to about 36,000 feet. A large concrete vat will hold two train car loads of black strap syrup for mixing peanut hulls and syrup into wholesale and retail sweet feed. The plant aims to start manufacturing as peanut shelling begins in fall.

Local Officers Capture Fugitive After 5-Year Chase
Perry St. Chau of Comanche and Sheriff G. W. Riddle of Somervell County captured O. T. Leonard, a fugitive for more than five years. Leonard was returned to Glen Rose to face a robbery with firearms charge connected to a farm home holdup near Glen Rose years ago that injured an elderly couple. Benton Layman and Johnnie Dingus received lengthy prison terms for their roles in the same case. Leonard had eluded arrest for years, moving north before returning to the area recently.

Baptists Close Successful Revival at Local Church
A two week revival at First Baptist Church ended Sunday night with eight members baptized and fifteen more received by baptism or by letter. Among the baptisms were three couples. Rev. A Edwin Wilson, the pastor, plans later revivals in Newburg and Coleman County at a rural church once led by his grandfather.
