D. Dingwall, Comanche's longest continually operated business under the same management, will close his boot and shoe shop on May 1 after 47 years serving the public. He recalls Comanche in its early days and notes he has repaired about 106000 shoes since starting here. He plans to rest but may return to work if the urge returns.

Local oil men report a shallow test on the Corby tract southwest of De Leon showing a top at 2 540 feet with casing to be set soon. The Black Lime interval appeared 50 feet higher than nearby tests, prompting expectations of oil or heavy gas. A Bryson fishing job began at 200 feet after tools were lost. Drilling resumed on the White tract near Hasse with two sands bearing gas at 300 feet, raising hopes of oil. Casing set on Stewart prospect.

County Democratic Executive Committee Sets May Precinct Conventions
The County Democratic Executive Committee met last Saturday and altered pledges for the no party test position. Delegates were named for Comanche No. 1 Soda Springs and Proctor as well as Mackavitle Newburg Downing. Precinct conventions are set for May 5 and the County Convention for May 8 at the District Court Room in Comanche. N A Palmer resigns as County Chairman with several candidates expected to resign to run for office. The meeting listed numerous precinct chairmen in attendance.

Grand Jury Adjourns After Shortest Session in Comanche County
The April term grand jury of Comanche County Texas adjourned after five days in session. They examined about 126 witnesses and returned ten indictments six felonies and four misdemeanors. The body thanked Judge Eidson and prosecutors for their support and asked to be discharged.
