Comanche High School to Stage It Seemed Like A Good Idea

Comanche High School presents its senior class play It Seemed Like A Good Idea at the Junior High Cafetorium with performances on Thursday May 1 at 8:00 PM and Saturday May 3 at 8:00 PM. Tickets cost 7 cents for students and $1 for adults.

County Logo Contest Sails Into Comanche County Bicentennial

Comanche County Bicentennial Committee seeks a black on white logo for stationery newspapers flags and mementos with a county wide contest. Entries open to county residents with one entry per person due by May 10 and submitted to the Comanche Chief or De Leon Free Press under the committee led by Mary Jim and Gayle Wilkerson.

School Board Happenings on Bond Election Canvass

The School Board met in a called session to canvass bond election results on Monday night April 21. In talks with Architects and Financial Adviser they learned building costs fell about 6 percent in four months with steel down 15 to 20 percent in five months. Board members have telephoned construction firms statewide to refine cost estimates and designs for firmer facility plans.

Comanche Jaycees Host Special Service Co-Op Track Meet

The Comanche Jaycees sponsor a track meet on April 25 at 1 00 p m at Indian Memorial Stadium for ages 7 to 21. Schools represented include Comanche Sidney Cross Plains Rising Star De Leon and Gustine with events from standard track races to hula hoop rope skip obstacle ice run and walking beam. Admission is free and inquiry contact is listed.

About 92 percent of these firms have 20 or fewer employees, and total covered payroll reached 7.196 million dollars, up from 5.752 million two years earlier.
