Comanche Voters Prepare for 2 Million High School Bond
Comanche Independent School District voters will cast ballots Saturday April 19 from 8 am to 7 pm at the High School Gymnasium to approve a $2 million bond for a new high school facility. Two boxes will serve property owners and non owners within the district. Judge Earl Seay will oversee the election as officials estimate a $2 million project based on preliminary design.

John R. Moore, 37, was elected to the board of First State Bank of Gustine by the bank’s directors led by president I C WIllingham. Moore, a Gustine resident, holds a B S in Economics from Abilene Christian College earned in 1964 after study at Tarleton State University Texas Tech and Gustine High School. He served in the US Army and worked in lumber and building in Abilene during the 1960s before positions with Gulf Oil in New Orleans and 3M in Brownwood. Since 1970 he has run a stock farm near Gustine and managed a real estate business. He is married to Aileen Broyles and they have one daughter Carla.

Comanche coach Don Edwards will take the Indians to Brownwood for the district track meet featuring Comanche Eastland Hamilton Breckenridge Coleman Clyde and Hamilton. Breckenridge is favored to win the district title with two divisions seniors and freshmen and preliminaries start at 10 with finals at 3 30. Comanche Indian Maidens travel to Odessa Thursday and Friday April 17 18 to compete in the regional track meet Coach Leta Andrews will lead six maidens in nine events Participating are Kimberly Renshaw Sara Westmoreland Connie Mankin Tanna Shaw and Patricia Morgan The Indian Band led by Mike Brady won the Outstanding Band Award at Cisco Junior College earning 39 top places and 570 points in AA competition across districts.
