Comanche Schools Win District Meet Title at Brownwood
Comanche City Schools captured first place at the District Meet in Brownwood, beating Brownwood by three points 45 to 42 as 28 schools competed. Comanche County placed fourth with 62 points, while McCulloch led with 92 and San Saba 84. Individual honors went to Maurice Hoffman and Lu Ella Carter among others, with strong showings in declamation, piano, glee, track, and rural pentathlon events.

Uncle Lane Morris Celebrates 102nd Birthday in Family Gathering
Uncle Lane Morris celebrated his 102nd birthday at his son Geo L. Morris’s home with 125 relatives and old friends. Guests included Louise Behols family, W M David and kin, Virgil Huffstutter family, Ruth Hourg and family, Otho Claborne family, and others from Gorman, Okra, Carbon, Eastland, Abilene, Fort Smith Arkansas, New Mexico, and Comanche. All children attended except three, sharing a day of visiting and hearty conversation despite advanced years.
