Victor Scott of Gold Kist Peanuts is appointed as one of six members and alternates to the Peanut Administrative Committee for a term from May 1, 1989 to April 30, 1972. The nine producers and nine handlers oversee the federal marketing agreement ensuring peanut quality per USDA. Junior High District Track Meet Set for April 17

The Peanut League District 8AA will hold its junior high track meet at Indian Memorial Stadium on Thursday April 17. Teams from Comanche Dublin Hamilton Granbury and De Leon will compete with preliminaries at 5 PM and finals at 6 PM.

Mrs. L. C. Durham announces the Friends of the Comanche Public Library membership drive begins in Comanche and nearby areas on Monday April 20. Sixty volunteers aim for 500 members and 1000 dollars. past year 407 members raised 900 dollars for books.

About 47 Comanche Countians from Comanche County will compete in the District 8 4-H contest in Stephenville Saturday April 19. Event draws competitors from roughly 20 Central West Texas counties with multiple demonstrations foods and nutrition, farm and ranch management, crops, animal showing and public speaking among listed categories.

Baseball Meeting Sunday April 20th

Rain records tumble in Comanche County track meet

A weekend storm drenched Comanche and Comanche County with up to 4.5 inches, helping farmers and stock water supplies while ath letes at the Redskin Relays faced wet fields. Officials logged unofficial city rainfall of 3.21 inches over two days, with KCOM reporting 2.82 inches across two dates.

Comanche Jaycees Elect Officers for Coming Year

At a Tuesday night meeting on April 15 Comanche Jaycees elected officers for the next fiscal year. Bill Kendrick was named president with Jack Byrd and Bo Eirod as 1st and 2nd vice presidents, Ronnie Boston secretary treasurer, Harold Adeerk inner club director, and Stanley Swindle as reporter. Directors include Connie Keith, Paul Ray McKinzie, Charles Pendleton, Carroll Jones, Elton Swindle, and Richard Wagner. Kendrick also earned outstanding Jaycee of the year. The group discussed the upcoming Jaycee Carnival, Little League programs, and completing the Shooting Education program with awards for top scores.
