Death Claims Mrs. Isabell Smith
Funeral services for Mrs. Isabell Lanear Smith 97 longtime Indian Mountain resident northwest Comanche County were held at the Baptist Church in Gorman with the pastor officiating. She died March 27 at her daughter’s home in German after illness since visiting Centerville. Interment was Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandsons James Smith Eastland J C Smith Seymour Earl Carrigan Centerville Carl Maupin Abilene Charlie Anglin Lubbock and Elmer Brown Fort Worth. She was born October 6 1859 in St. Petersburg Florida and married A A Smith March 29 1875 in Centerville Texas. He died about 22 years ago. Ten children were born. seven survive: Decia Carrigan and Isabell Anglin Gorman Fannie Brown Eastland Tommie Smith Fort Worth Ponza Smith San Angelo and Davis Smith Gorman. Surviving also 42 grandchildren 87 great grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren. Described as a kindly woman loved by all who knew her.

Swine Tour Attracts About 50 On Farm Visit
The swine tour on Thursday March 28 drew about fifty people visiting farms of J W Singleton Leland Nabors Jack Straub Homer Stephens Travis Bunting W W Sadberry Clyde Wall and J J Mathis. Attendees viewed Yorkshire Duroc and Hampshire hogs and a new swine feeding parlor. E M Regenbrecht Extension Swine Specialist judged classes and used a back fat probe to measure fat in several hogs. Lunch was provided by the Comanche County Swine Breeders Association at the W W Sadberry farm and invited others to join. the group meets on the second Monday each month.

Mrs N A Berrey won the tri color ribbon for the best arrangement in the Comanche Garden Club flower show. The event featured Indian theme tables at Mrs John McDonald’s home and tours of noted homes including Mrs Jess Brown and Clarence Rea. Numerous ribbon winners were listed across blue red yellow and white categories with many homes hosting horticultural exhibits and Junior Garden Club displays.
