Cancer Society Seeks Volunteers for 1971 Crusade

Wayne Swindle urges Comanche County residents to join the American Cancer Society 1971 educational and fundraising crusade beginning April 1. Volunteers will visit every house and apartment to hand out life saving leaflets, raise funds, and spread awareness of early diagnosis and cancer prevention. Call Mary Wilhelm or Florence Tupin to help.

Wet spell hits Comanche County Proctor area

Comanche County voters in Proctor approve a wet precinct by 158 to 128 on March 20. Nine Proctor businesses plan to resume alcohol sales and a tenth applies for a permit. The dry side reports 27 ballots challenged. A decision may go to 52nd District Court if contested.

Poisoned Dogs Struck City Neighborhood

Five dogs died in the 600 to 700 blocks of N Hall area Tuesday night and Wednesday morning after eating suspected poison candies and hot dogs. Residents reported candy and weiners as possible poison sources. samples were sent to a laboratory for testing.
