Rural mail carrier marks eighteen years of service
The Coeur d Alene celebration begins at 4 p m on the same day. Eighteen years ago the post office department granted a free delivery route from Colville known as R F D 1. I I Gilbert was chosen as the rural carrier and began delivering mail to settlers near White Lake Squaw Creek and the Little Pend Oreille. He says he has missed only two trips since starting.
