City Council Advances Reservoir Repairs and July Bond Election

The Stevens County Pioneer Association holds its annual meeting and picnic at Colville city park on Thursday June 30. County residents eligible for membership include those living in the county up to July 1, 1895. A basket dinner will be served at noon with speeches by prominent pioneers and others.

Milk License Fees Expire On June 30
The legislature amended the dairy code defining milk vendors and dairies, repealing section 30. Vendors selling milk from vehicles must hold a license. bulk buyers may need a factory license. All licenses expire June 30 with a $1 fee. firms must renew and report handling methods to the department.
Sheriff Seizes Moonshine Still Near Springdale
A complete 30 gallon still was found near Springdale last week with about 600 gallons of sour mash 12 gallons of moonshine a gasoline cooker and 150 pounds of sugar. Moonshine kept as evidence and the rest destroyed. The sheriff holds the still at his office. No arrests have been made yet.
