Junior Farmers Take Short Course at Pullman
Gathered from 23 counties, 120 boys and girls completed the first annual short course at Washington State College in Pullman from June 19 to 24. The program covered agriculture and home economics including canning cooking gardening poultry swine beef dairy sheep bees and club leadership with daily college faculty and extension service instruction. Finances were donated by banks and clubs and two large dormitories were provided for the participants.

Sheriffs Find Hidden Still on Williams Valley Ranch
Deputy Sheriffs Ledgerwood, Ham and Meyer uncovered a 50 gallon copper still in a basement under a cement floor at a Williams valley ranch. They found 150 gallons of mash and a gallon of finished product, with a removable cement block and tackle setup. Ranch owner James Rentenger was reportedly in Montana at the time.

Wedding of Dr Ralph Goetter and Miss Mary Mantz in Colville
The couple wed at Mantz home Tuesday before 125 guests. An altar by the fireplace featured syringe and pink pennies with cedar, Oregon grape, and roses. Rev E Bell officiated at 2 30 PM. The bride wore silk chiffon over duchess satin with Spanish lace. John Raftis gave her away. Bridal party included Una Williams as bridesmaid and Clarice Carroll as flower girl. A lawn luncheon followed with a 12-seat bridal table and a wedding cake baked by Mrs W Keller. The bride, daughter of the late Senator Charles Mantz, attended Colville schools and Washington State College. the groom, Colville native, studied at Gonzaga and Los Angeles universities, later practicing medicine in Colville before serving as a hospital commander in WWI. The couple planned a multi-city honeymoon before settling at the Mantz residence.

A July 5 school election in Colville will decide if Red School House District No 36 consolidates with Colville Consolidated District No 5. Meetings debated the issue with F Leo Grinstead saying Colville gains no special benefit and taxes could rise four to five mills.

The Dominion Silver-Lead Mining Co. sold a car of silver ore weighing 42 tons to Bunker Hill & Sullivan Mining at Kellogg for $17308. The return averaged over $412 per ton, one of the richest ore shipments from Washington.
