C. R. Wiley the Stevens county assessor was elected president of the state assessors association at the 24th annual convention in Olympia. The state prosecuting attorneys association chose Osee W. Noble as president in August, marking Stevens county’s recorded prominence in state annals.

Mill Creek Mine formed with 100000 capitalization near Colville
C N Smith Henry R Spedden and L B Donley form the Mill Creek Mining company for early development of a 200 acre homestead property 10 miles northeast of Colville. A rich silver vein assayed at 800 per ton was found during road work. Development plans call for 1300 feet of tunneling to reach 1100 feet depth. Minorca Homestake stock has risen from five to ten dollars and will jump to twenty five after machinery is installed by March 15.

Fort Colville Grange issues resolved after Frank C. Graham presided. Seceding members were urged to rejoin Washington State Grange or face exclusion. New officers installed including R. J. Commercial traffic since the first of the year has been heavy. Two carloads of sugar invoiced to Colville merchants arrived this week. B. J. Carney company shipped seven carloads of poles. Coal consigned to City Transfer expected daily. Cold weather has not reduced butter and cream shipments to outside markets.
