The Senate passed 75 to 11 a measure to require employers with existing health and disability plans to cover pregnancy and childbirth the same as other medical conditions. The bill, aimed at overturning a 1976 Supreme Court ruling, would define pregnancy discrimination under the Civil Rights Act and allow abortion coverage to be negotiated by unions while lawmakers debated an abortion amendment. Compliance would be required by July 1.

Mrs Frieda Imholt organized the After noon Bridge Club for the new season at her home replacing hospitalized Mrs Oswald Meiselbach. High scores went to the second best finisher with Mrs John Herik as guest. The preceding day Mrs Imholte ran the Afternoon Pinochle Club where Mrs Walter Engelbart won high score and Miss Pauline Bartenbruch was second. Clubs meet the second Tuesday and Wednesday of each month.
