Sunny Warmer Forecast Hits Nebraska Across State
Scattered rainshowers and thundershowers spread over eastern and south central Nebraska today. Temperatures midday were in the 60s with highs from 63 at McCook to 84 at Scottsbluff and Chadron. Overnight lows ranged from 51 to 61 as western Nebraska saw clear to partly cloudy skies and a chance of isolated thundershowers. Saturday looks mostly sunny and warmer in eastern Nebraska with highs in the 80s.

Omaha Drug Ring Bust Affects 13 Defendants
The Justice Department announced the arrest of 10 of 13 indicted in a multimillion dollar heroin operation in the Omaha area. Ike Conway of Omaha led the scheme, moving heroin twice monthly from May 1975 onward, with a 50-50 profit split and payments of $800 per ounce to suppliers. Bond for Conway was set at $25,000 but he could not post it. Also arrested in Omaha were Clarance Ross Russell Spearman Eldred Davis Arthur Jefferson Jeanette Hutcherson Eugenia Hogan Percy Curtis and Joseph Lee.

In Minneapolis UPI reports the Episcopal Church narrowly accepted a canon change to ordain women as priests, ending a lengthy dispute. Opponents from the Fellowship of Concerned Churchmen condemned the Move as illegitimate and vowed to reject or boycott services led by women priests.
