After two successful seasons George Cihacek will teach lapidary and rock identification at Platte Technical Community College. The course covers rocks minerals and polishing stones with hands on lapidary work. First class Monday September 17 at 7 pm in room 273 tuition eight dollars.

Washington reports the Nixon administration’s Committee on Interest and Dividends asked two of the nation’s largest banks to justify a prime lending rate increase to a record 10 percent. The Omaha Public Power District board awarded an $8.0 million contract for two million tons of coal over six years to Rosebud Coal Sales. The coal mined in Hanna Wyoming will supply North Omaha Power Station from July 4, 1974 to September 30, 1979 with sulfur content above 1.2 percent, noted as environmentally attractive.

Princes Souvanna appealed to world powers to support the accord as 180000 people in Vientiane Province took little notice.

Two men were hospitalized after a natural gas explosion at the Charhyte Apartments boiler room in Omaha. They were preparing the boiler for winter when gas fumes backed up and blew a door open. One worker from Bellevue was struck, another from Council Bluffs helped his partner to safety. injuries not yet detailed. No fire and no violations reported.
