Two David City youths Frank Allen in boys style revue and Vicki Warholeski in coat and or suit led area 4H purple winners at the Nebraska State Fair Style Revue in Lincoln. Other purple recipients include Sandi Haschke Humphrey and Amy Beckstrom Clarks in dresses and skirted outfits. Blues went to Carmen Scholl Osceola Ann Gagnan Schuyler Karen McAfee Fullerton Cindy King Newman Grove Barbara Henke Creston Barb Brockhaus Madison and Terry Schwartz Humphrey in 4H daily judging.

Murder charges Roewert pleads guilty in Nebraska case
Ricky Roewert 23 of Norfolk pleaded guilty in Platte County District Court to the April murder of Henry Hernandez 24 of Norfolk and to murder in the commission of a felony. Judge Eugene McFadden ordered a pre sentence investigation with sentencing set for Oct 25. A separate trial for co defendants and a not guilty plea on insanity were noted.

Students at local high schools will have five opportunities during the 1977 78 school year to take the ACT Assessment Program. The first test is Oct 8 at Platte College facility with a Sept 12 registration deadline for seniors.

Friends of Music season completes with final program signed
The 1977 78 Friends of Music series is now complete per president Charles Sayre. The George Shearing Quintet opens the season as the final signed program after a previous cancellation. Other acts include the Young Americans in West Side Story on December 5 Evelyn Lear and Thomas Stewart on January 21 and St Louis Symphony on March 10. Secretary Minnie Asche says tickets go to members September 19 and only members may attend the Symphony concert with a membership card required for all venues.

Warm moist southerly winds from a low pressure system over the western Dakotas will bring thundershowers across Nebraska late today and tonight with scattered rain showers statewide. A few severe storms are possible in extreme northeast Nebraska and adjacent areas of South Dakota and Iowa. Cooler air Friday should reduce the fire danger and lower flood risk near the Big Blue River, which stood at 17.9 feet near Crete today.
