Voyager 1 launch described as flawless by NASA
In Pasadena California a Jet Propulsion Laboratory spokesman said Voyager 1 launched without the problems that delayed Voyager 2 and that all booms were deployed and scientific instruments turned on as planned. The unmanned craft carries 254 pounds of equipment for its Jupiter and Saturn mission.
