Lincoln Neb AP Economically battered livestock producers got a brief bit of good news Thursday. State Tax Commissioner William E Peters reported there will be sharp reductions next year in the assessed value of most livestock for real estate tax purposes. The valuation for all types of livestock decreased 16.9 percent on the average. Valuations are mechanically determined, based on actual sales of animals during the previous year at the Omaha market. Because the sale price for livestock was down in 1974, compared to the historic highs of 1972, taxable values fell accordingly. Assessed values of registered cattle changed the most, off 23.2 percent. Grade cattle values are down 15.5 percent, feeder cattle 9.4 percent, grade hogs 11.0 percent and registered hogs 16.6 percent and grade sheep 9.3 percent.
