West Dusted Press International reports Nebraska endures the season's first snowstorm with up to a foot of snow in the Panhandle. Temperatures drop to the 20s, Scottsbluff loses power as branches snap, and half the Panhandle experiences outages. The National Weather Service issues a central and northeast Nebraska freeze warning and skies stay cloudy statewide. Harrison records 12 inches on the ground.

UPI reports Addison Y. McCandless of Harrisburg Pennsylvania was arrested near the northeast gate after police spotted a loaded .44 caliber revolver. He was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon under DC codes and jailed after questioning by the Secret Service. The incident occurred while President Ford was in the White House. authorities said there was no threat to the President.
United Press International reports railcar shortages over 10 to 40 days will curb shipments of bumper corn and soybeans in Illinois and parts of Nebraska and elsewhere. ICG may use emergency orders to free box and hopper cars as millions of bushels sit stored, while farmers hold back sales due to low prices and rising storage costs.
Ankara reports talks set for next Tuesday between Turkey and the United States on the future of U S military bases in Turkey. The Formgn Ministry announced after a one hour meeting between Foreign Minister Thian Sabri Cagtayanyil and U S Ambassador William B Macomber. Two dozen American bases in Turkey were closed last July in retaliation for the U S arms embargo. The House partially lifted the ban Oct 3.
Secretary of State Henry Kissinger flew from Tokyo to Washington after a two day visit to brief Japan on his five day Peking trip. In Anchorage he met Japanese Foreign Minister Kiichi Miyazawa and Prime Minister Takeo Miki. Miyazawa said Ford's post Thanksgiving trip would not change Asia or Sino American relations.
Plans advance for the 18th annual Nebraska Park Producers and Porkettes banquet to be held November 4 at Platte County Agricultural Park in Columbus. Eighteen regional pork queens compete for the state title with the winner announced that evening. Special awards include top area group, All American pork producer, builder award, pork chop awards, outstanding young pork producers, Mrs Nebraska Porkettes, and 4 H demonstration awards. Featured speaker is Bob Kardlevity of Mission Hills MD with talk Everything's Green But My Thin.
