Volleyball Stat System Aims to Credit True Players
In a Platte College feature writer Terry Anderson outlines Marge Burkett’s volleyball scoring system that rates players in serving passing setting spiking and blocking. Each category uses a 0 to 3 scale with divisions and zone-based scoring to better credit performance though noting potential human judgement errors. Burkett’s method yields a serving percentage by totaling points earned across attempts and dividing by possible score, and the article notes the value of video or multiple raters to improve consistency.
