Tickets are sold at the door for the second annual Discover Columbus Days Grand Ball to be held Saturday night at Platte County Agricultural Park with coronation at 8 30 p.m and dancing to Ted Weems orchestra at 9 p.m. Parade begins 10 a.m. Saturday on 11th Street and 2nd Avenue featuring 16 bands 21 floats 6 horse units 47 units. parade last 142 hours and includes a 1918 Reo Speed Wagon and a 1920 Advance Rumsey steam engine.

Rural Nebraska reports show more fatal wrecks in eight months
A State Roads Department release shows 216 fatal accidents in January through August 1976 with 260 deaths. Rural crashes totaled 156 versus 60 urban. Most fatalities occurred near drivers' homes, on Saturdays and daylight, with males and ages 25 to 34 most affected. The rate per 100 million vehicle miles fell 3.6 percent from last year.
