FFA chapter earns top contest rating in 1969 state program

The local FFA Chapter received a superior rating certificate at the 1969 FFA-SWCD central event, co sponsored by the Ontario World Herald and Nebraska Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts. Five chapters statewide earned superior ratings for extensive activities in soil and water conservation. Local advisor Ray Becker and members Lady Cruise, Mark Kaul, and Dennis Schack attended a Nebraska Association meeting earlier this month.

Federal grand jury recesses after 33 indictments

A federal grand jury recessed Thursday after returning 33 indictments. Harold J. Sleade, former state welfare director, was not among them. One indicted person is Robert Elmer Cecil, arrested during the Lary Minard murder probe. Cecil is charged with violating federal firearms laws.
