A weak cold front with mild Pacific air moves through Nebraska bringing warmer temperatures albeit cloudy skies. Overnight lows ranged from 29 at Kearney and Beatrice to Batavia, with midday temps in the 30s and south winds at 5 to 15 mph. Mostly cloudy in the southeast and northeast, partly cloudy elsewhere. Tonight and Tuesday see slightly warmer temps with lows in the 20s and highs in the low to mid 40s east and upper 40s to low 50s west.
Mike Zastera received a Legion life membership at Hartman Post 4 during the annual Awards Night at the Legion Club. The event recognized Legionnaires and Auxiliary members for 1976-77 with presentations by Keith Bryan and remarks from Past Commander Gil Cave. Zastera’s extensive service included Navy duty in 1944, leadership roles in Hartman Post, and chairmanship of the athlete committee, plus coaching and sports involvement locally.

Begin noted the move ends U.S. mediation and the talks could start Saturday.
