Madison irrigator appeals after water rights dispute
Madison Nebraska. An irrigator was ordered to pay court costs and 5,346 to three neighbors for loss of water use. A permanent injunction barred further pumping by Donald Eisenmann until three months or until neighbors connect to city water. Damages cover $1,907 $1,534 and $1,805 for new wells. Eisenmann planned an appeal to the Nebraska Court.

14 year old wins Telegram football prediction contest

Weather turns cool across Nebraska with mixed skies

New Cars Lead Rise in October CPI
Consumer prices rose 0.3 percent in October led by new car costs which accounted for over a third of the commodities increase. Gasoline utilities and food also pushed up the index while used car prices fell. Real GNP growth cooled to 3.8 percent in Q3 as inflation eased slightly.

General Motors and the United Auto Workers announced a national contract covering 390000 workers ending after 80000 walked off at 16 plants in seven states. Boy narrowly escapes shotgun blast at home

Platte County Junior Miss contestants named for 1977 pageant
Sixteen senior girls from Platte County high schools will compete in the 1977 Junior Miss program Sunday at Columbus High School Auditorium. The winner will advance to the Nebraska Junior Miss finals in Grand Island in January. Prizes include a 225 dollar scholarship for the winner, with 125 and 75 dollars for runners up and 25 dollars for scholastic and talent awards. Judges include Glen Porath, Cheryl Tarr, Don Sharp, Mrs. Tachouski, and Gary Ongert. Katie Hervert will crown her successor. Tickets at the door after 6:45 p.m.
