STROMSBURG The Arvid Branting family of North Platte and Mrs. Quinton Sukraw of Hershey visited Mrs. Gertrude Anderson. They attended the Farley Anderson wedding and will move to Quincy next week with Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ellerbrock and three children. Mrs. Ellerbrock will work at the Quincy Clinic Dispensary. A birthday tribute honored Mrs. Nanie Sundberg on her 61st. The Swedish Club plans a smorgasbord Christmas party at Mrs. J. W. Toline’s home. The November Incel met at Mrs. Amanda Anderson’s home with Mrs. Donald Whitney visiting from Adrian, Mich. A bridal shower for Linda Jacobs in Omaha included Mrs. Uerman Kohl, Mrs. Charles Kohl, and Mrs. Wallace Fredrickson of Stromsburg.

UPI report on public hearings at Civic Auditorium as Army Corps of Engineers unveils a $505 million Platte River dam and reservoir project. The plan would create a 126000 acre reservoir west of Omaha Lincoln area, include Skull Creek dam, Union Dike levee raise, and Platte bank preservation. Estimated 7000 residents could relocate. state funds cover most nonfederal costs.

Two Iowans die in separate traffic accidents
Two Iowans died Monday afternoon in separate accidents. Phillip Gerome O Conner, 57, a maintenance employee for the Iowa Highway Commission, died when his pickup spun off Interstate 29 about 10 miles south of Sioux City. In a second crash near Millersburg, 16 year old Randal Wiseman died when a car slid into a tractor pulling corn. Darold Lee Morras of Millersburg, the car driver, was hospitalized with head injuries. the tractor driver was unharmed.
