Omaha Livestock report shows hogs and cattle varied in price with declines in weights over 240 pounds while sheep and lambs shift modestly. Hogs 6,800. cattle and calves 3,500. prices for steers, heifers, cows, and lambs reflect mixed movement across loads and weights. Chicago Mercantile Exchange closes with live cattle and hogs mixed in futures, with notable activity in December contracts.
Leigh and Mrs. Peter H. Claussen returned from a two week East trip visiting two granddaughters and families. They met Harald Mohnsen’s daughter in New York and Rosalind in Boston where she directs choir work. Rosalind studies for a doctorate at Indiana University. The trip included a culture tour of New York and a stop in Silver Spring, Maryland to see their son’s family.
Nebraska Public Power District invites sealed bids for purchase of Small Power Transformers Contract 76.40 in Columbus Nebraska. Bids due December 1 1976 at 10:00 am with opening immediately after. Documents available for $10 refundable. Bid bonds required. District may reject all bids. Board of Directors order by Hill General Manager.
Washington reports October capacity utilization fell 0.5 percent with mines factories and utilities down amid weak housing starts and permits dropping 4 percent. Inventories rose 0.8 percent while petroleum price speculation and job concerns loom.
The Columbus Community Hospital Inc invites sealed bids for additions and renovation work at the Columbus hospital Nebraska. Bids due December 1 1976 at Elks Country Club Columbus. Separate proposals for General Mechanical and Electrical or all combined. Bid security 5 percent of base bid. Deposit for bidding documents $100 refundable if returned in good condition. Bonds required. Owner may reject any or all proposals. Clarence Cory administrator.
The Committee on Assassinations, chaired by Rep. Thomas N. Downing, plans to issue several subpoenas for information on the slayings of President John F. Kennedy and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. The panel also asked the Justice Department and U.S. intelligence agencies for all related evidence and viewed images from the King assassination in Memphis.
