Majors says ISU belongs in top ranks after dramatic tie
Iowa State coach Johnny Majors hailed his Cyclones as among the nation's top teams after a 23-23 tie with Nebraska. He praised the defense for eight turnovers and noted George Amundson and Keith Krepfle sparked the offense while Merv Krakau starred on defense. A late fourth-quarter surge fell short as Nebraska's Seth Goodsen missed the extra point, forcing the deadlock and ending Iowa State's bid to complete a stunning win. Regular safety Dave McGurty suffered a broken leg, sidelining him for the season.
