Dinner theater grows as audiences seek new form

New York critics note a shift toward dinner theaters as a popular entertainment option. Vincent Sardi, owner of Sardi’s and the Vincent Sardi Dinner Theater, says patrons want shows plus meals. He cites a couple paying about $15 for a full dinner without liquor, noting liquor margins boost profits.

NPPD faces coal supply risk from nationwide miners strike

A spokesper son for the Nebraska Public Power District says the coal miners strike could run 11 weeks without affecting NPPD production, with Bellevue and Hallam stations holding 80 days of coal unless cold weather hits early. If coal runs out, NPPD may rely on noncoal plants or pricier fuels. In South Africa, a major platinum mine near Johannesburg plans 80 percent output soon, supplying GM catalysts. A cloudburst caused a 30-foot mud dam breach at a mine shaft leaving 2,000 to 4,000 miners underground, some escaping via an adjoining shaft while others remained trapped.
