CHICAGO AP Futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange trend as live beef cattle contracts trade for February through August. Prices show highs and lows with closes around 39 to 42 per hundredweight, plus notable figures for March and June deliveries.
Livestock prices at Omaha show hogs up to 50 cents higher on mostly 25, cattle and calves mixed with higher cows, prime loads and varying weights listed. deep sale estimates project 5,100 cattle, 6,000 hogs, 500 sheep for Tuesday. In Johannesburg, mud from a shaft at Impala Platinum Mine killed at least seven miners.

Other items include gun theft from Duane Bright of Shelby and a citizen’s band radio theft from David Groteluschen of Leigh.
Harry Bosak was announced as Optimist of the Month at a club meeting last week. He earned the honor for raising 100 dollars to fund scholastic events and youth activities including Tri-Star basketball Easter egg hunts and bicycle safety programs.
