Carter Says No Easy Answer to Unemployment Problem

President Carter warned of no simple fix for unemployment amid a global slowdown and urged confidence in the Humphrey Hawkins full employment plan. He pledged an announcement soon and said a final bill should include anti inflation and full employment provisions while House Senate talks continue. He cited 7 percent unemployment and outlined his broader economic and health care stance, including federal funding of abortions and energy policy. He also stressed dam safety after a Georgia flood disaster and noted his forthcoming energy-focused congressional talks.
