Loup Power District Opens Maple Park Substation

Loup Power District energizes the new Maple Park substation on 33rd Avenue across Lost Creek School. The 3750 KVA facility uses a low profile design with landscaping to curb environmental impact. A Columbus family hosted a gathering honoring their son Mike who graduated from J F K College at Wahoo and daughter Sandy who graduated from Columbus High School. Schmitt Elected ARC President in Platte County

Duane Schmitt was chosen president of the Platte County Association for Retarded Citizens. Don Borer became vice president, Howard Ernst secretary, and Margaret Bowe treasurer. Leigh gym fire damages high school facility

The Leigh High School gym was damaged by a fire reported at 11 p.m. Wednesday in the coaches room off the gym. Authorities say the blaze originated in the football lockers, burning athletic gear badly. Doors into the gym are charred and the floor shows indeterminate damage as Fire Marshall Larry Prochop investigates.
