Wildman Hu Tu Mi dies after surrender and deportation talks
Hu Tu Mi, the so called Wildman of the Green Swamp, was found dead in his county jail cell after a day of fear over signing papers to be sent back to Taiwan. Border Patrol had demanded his return, and officials say his fear and deportation threat preceded his death by suicide. The case traces seven months in which he hid in the Withlacoochee River swamps and claimed to be Wu Ching Peng, a Taiwanese father of seven.

Jojoba Oil Could Aid Indian Economies and Save Whales
A National Research Council panel urges U S government support for 2000 acres of jojoba plantations on 24 reservations in the southwest to grow jojoba and extract oil from seeds. The oil mirrors sperm whale oil, offering a substitute for waxes and lubricants while boosting Indian self sufficiency and potentially ending commercial whaling.
