Plan to pay extra school aid deemed unconstitutional
Lincoln Neb July A Nebraska senator’s amendment to a school aid bill to provide districts with per pupil costs over 1000 with extra aid was called unconstitutional by Attorney General Marold Mash. The amendment would also affect districts receiving little state aid and lacked clear eligibility criteria. The bill contemplates the state taking half the cost of operating public schools. A vote on the amendment was denied. Meanwhile the village jail in Urigh was closed by the village board for sanitary reasons and has not been used for years.
