Unsolved Death Of Gridder Hagberg Remains Mystery
The California Highway Patrol closed the hit and run case of Oakland Raider gridder Roger Hagberg, 31, killed when his car left a Highway 24 overpass near Lafayette on April 15. A second car ran over his body after the initial crash. the other driver stopped briefly then left. A person claiming to be the driver sent a note to the Oakland Tribune offering to turn himself in if helped with his drinking problem, but he has never been identified.

Letter from Shawnee Found In Oakland Mail Sack
A tattered letter dated September 30 1847 from Shawnee Oklahoma surfaced in Oakland amid the morning delivery. The envelope bears an upside down three cent stamp and is addressed to Matel Humphrey a former employee of the Oakland firm. The postman suspects it sat in a mail sack or box for over 22 years before turning up.
