Radio Theater Returns With Listeners Script Contest

In New York AP writer Jay Sharbutt reports Paul Hemmer of WDBQ AM in Dubuque hosts a retro radio week using five listener written scripts. Entries came from an ad agency artist, five teachers, a deputy sheriff and a 21 year old factory worker. Karl Wemner Jr. won money for his script, as Hemmer notes the project sparked no rewrites and used local DJs as actors. The shows broadcast late March featured spoofs and dramas inspired by classic radio style including a deputy sheriff authored piece.
