DAVID CITY Olla Kriz retiring manager of Buller County Rural Public Power District honored at a Sunday dinner. Nearly all district employees and state executives attended. Kriz received a plaque for 23 years of service beginning March 1947 succeeding Ester Trussel. Prior to appointment Kriz led a line crew as superintendent.

County farmers have a three week signup for long term conservation cost sharing under the Rural Environmental Conservation Program. Applications run from April 1 to 18 at the ASCS office after receiving cost share handbooks. Colleges brace for budget strains with modest tuition hikes
Nebraska college officials say fall enrollments won’t be greatly affected by strained budgets and higher fees. Hastings State College to raise tuition $100 per semester and room and board $70.
