Denise Thirion’s rare craft as a woman gun engraver in America
Denise Thirion, one of two female master engravers in the United States, works from home in Manchester, Connecticut for A A While Engraving Co. She trained in Belgium, earned a U.S. visa after divorce, and now spends long hours engraving ornate designs on metal. She demonstrates tracing with a pencil and licking the design, notes weather shortages affected light for engraving, and explains Sterling is easy yet delicate to work with.
