Scriven Named Outstanding Columbus Officer of 1974

Edwin Scriven, a Columbus Police patrolman since 1973, was named Columbus Outstanding Police Officer of 1974 at the sixth annual Police Appreciation Banquet hosted by American Legion Hartman Post 64. About 20 attendees heard main speaker Ray Oltman of the Nebraska American Legion. The event presented Scriven with plaques and his name will join the first five year honorees on a ceremonial plaque at the police station.

Nebraska Weather Shifts From Snow to Cold Ahead

Heavy snows hit South Dakota prompting travel advisory

Smith Sponsors Cedar Rapids reclamation bill in House

U S Representative Virginia Staith introduced legislation to authorize the Cedar Rapids reclamation project along the Cedar and Loup Rivers in Wheeler Gresley Boone and Nance Counties Nebraska. The plan includes a dam reservoir diversion dam canals and pumping facilities to irrigate 26800 acres for flood control recreation and wildlife.

Utility worker falls from pole near Columbus

An employee of Corn Husker Public Power fell from a pole about eight miles north of Columbus on Mason Road and was taken to Bellevue Community Hospital by an emergency unit. He was X-rayed and not admitted.
