Livestock quotations from Omaha show hogs 200 to 270 fluctuating with gains up to 1.50 above for some over 270. Sows steady to higher, 450 lb and 600 lb cattle and calves in light supply. Estimated receipts Monday project 6,300 cattle and calves, 350 hogs, 1,000 sheep.
New York AP reports the Dow Jones industrial average at 875.39 with a small rise of 0.08 as stock prices move modestly. The trading day notes gains in various issues while a separate family relocation and business venture is described involving the Malena and Johnson families moving to the Charles Malena farm and planning a joint farming venture with Edward Malena and his son Mike.
PLATTE CENTER The American Legion Auxiliary will sponsor a card party at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at St Joseph Social hall. The public is invited. Girl Scout Week observed as Brownie Troop 219 attended services. Mrs Ernest Mueller and Mrs Melvin Gehring hosted Grace Ladies Aid meeting. Birthday honorees Mrs Jouls Mueller and Harold Janssen. Lincoln Med AP Clive Shor resigns as buildings superintendent to join Department of Roads.

An administrative hearing on the environmental impact of the Gerald Gentleman power station near Sutherland entered its second day. The Sierra Club won access to an analysis of Wyoming coal used in the project, submitted with the application by Nebraska Public Power District. The plant’s coal supplier Atlantic Richfield faces questions on whether the sample represents the field coal. An engineer for the pollution-control equipment vendor testified the system would remove 99.8 percent of particulates, though cross-examination suggested this level may not be met consistently.
Five people were injured in a three car crash near the Eighways 15 and 91 intersection north of Schuyler Tuesday night. Cars driven by Charles Hintz Madison George J Tichota Clarkson and Louis Pavel Clarkson were involved. One driver tried to pass and was forced back into his lane by an oncoming car. Injured were treated at Memorial Hospital Schuyler and released Louis Pavel and Mrs Clarence Hintze were among those admitted. Damages were listed as 590 for the Pavel car and 1500 for the Hintz vehicle with the Tichota car a total loss.
A Columbus matinee features Pinocchio in an all live presentation by Childhood Productions. The show follows the wooden doll’s journey becoming a real boy with Geppetto Stromboli Mirzilla Eusebius and the good fairy amid the famed circus chaos.

The Legislature's Appropriations Committee trimmed athletic funding but did not codify eradication. local boards may still fund athletics if money is available, while tuition remissions face policy limits and resident requirements.

Rep. John Buchanan of Alabama branded a House subcommittee report claiming 17 million dollars in taxpayer money went to Nixon homes in San Clemente and Key Biscayne as absolutely untrue. He called the probe a political witchhunt and accused Democrats of distortion as White House dismisses it as deception.
