Onassis Interred on His Island Sanctuary in Greece
Aristotle Onassis was entombed today on his private Ionian Sea island. His daughter Christina and widow Jacqueline Kennedy attended as a Greek Orthodox priest led the last rites. The walnut casket arrived by ferry from Nidri and was placed near Panagitsa chapel where he wed Mrs Kennedy. Christina shed tears as she tossed dirt onto the casket. Relatives and mourners laid flowers before the grave, which sits opposite that of his son Alexander, who died at 23 in a 1973 plane crash. Onassis died Saturday from a lung infection after gall bladder surgery.
