Evangelist Billy Graham told the Albuquerque Tribune that former President Richard Nixon has grown deeply religious since his resignation. He said Nixon hosted a 24 hour visit at San Clemente on March 9 for religious talks, with regret for letting friends down, though Watergate was not discussed.
President Ford signaled to GOP leaders he would back a tax cut compromise if the final bill lacks amendments such as a housing credit or removal of the oil depletion allowance. The House bill proposes 21.3 billion in relief while a Senate version adds a home buyers tax credit.
John Kripps of Lincoln was arraigned in Platte County Court on three counts of grand larceny. He posted 10 percent of a 2500 dollar bond and was released. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 20 after alleged thefts of three color TV sets from local motels around February 24.
Bruce Tagwerker of Columbus is jailed awaiting bond as charges filed include two robberies at Derby Gasoline Station and Taco John's on January 6 and 25, breaking and entering a residence, two counts of arson for fires at Henry Heintz’s house and a garage owned by Herb Jones, plus prior burglary and receiving stolen property charges.
Two Weber State College singers Dave Sargent and Brian Felt, both 21, were carried out to sea as about a dozen chorus members waded near the Pacific. Three others were rescued after a patrolman alerted the Coast Guard. Police identified the missing men.

An Army recruiter and the selective service office prompted her to register after she turned 18 last December 15. Kenneth Neumann at the National Guard Armory helped resolve the confusion, joking she might enlist within a month.

The April 14 15 visit and a satellite program at Columbus High School kickoff an audience interactive series across 10 states, with local planning chaired by Elizabeth Buitain and a broad slate of volunteers.
A 13 year old Columbus youth, Robert Brehm Jr., was hurt and taken to Behlen Community Hospital after a pickup exiting an alley struck his bicycle on 23rd Avenue between 13th and 14th Streets. He suffered bruises abrasions and ear bleeding.
