Platte College band concert set Sunday

Platte College announces an Enter Into Spring With Music concert directed by Earl Sherburne. The 12 member jazz ensemble will perform pieces including Swings Both Ways and Ballad in Orange, with Sivi conducting and Mic Morris as the student leader. The Symphonic Overture by Carter is also on the program. admission is free in the college fine arts theater.

Two Juveniles Face Theft Charges in Local Incidents

Two Columbus youths, ages 11 and 12, are charged with thefts at the Platte Valley Office of Mental Retardation on Feb 23 and at a rock and ear shop on March 3. The items stolen include an electronic calculator stereo radio and headset and citizen band radios.

United Press International reports fair skies and warm temperatures across Nebraska through Thursday. A low pressure trough extends from north of Montana to Nebraska with a warm front moving east. Skies are mostly sunny with west winds 10 to 18 mph and highs in the upper 50s to 60s. Overnight lows vary from 23 to 30 degrees, with daytime highs from 41 to 60.

Bereuter amendment seeks 850000 for Nebr university instruction

In Lincoln the unicameral voted 30 11 to back Senator Bereuter s plan to reverse falling quality of undergraduate instruction by earmarking 850000 for improved teaching next year. Senator Cavanaugh objected to the approach but said blame rests beyond the university. Through noon recess lawmakers had not finished university amendments.
