Platte County spelling champs crowned from Humphrey and Emerson
Pupils from Humphrey Public School and Emerson School of Columbus won top places at the Platte County elementary spelling contest held Saturday under County Supt Gladys Breidert. Susan Lloyd of Humphrey won the 7-8 grade title after 28 rounds, qualifying for the state contest. Kirstin Peterson of Emerson won the 5-4 grade division, with several students earning honors in written and oral rounds.
